GLOSSYBOX MAY 2016
3:40 PM
How pretty is this months glossybox box? I absolutely adore the design of this box! There are four different boxes each one depict a different city (London, Paris, New York and Berlin), mine one is London which is perfect seeing as I leave in London and it is currently my favourite city.
This months Glossybox prepares us for summer with the sun protection and skin care items and the make up essentials for a minimalistic look we all love on during the hot summer days.
In this months Glossybox I have found:
HAWAIIAN TROPIC Satin Protection SPF30 | full-size price £13.99
Glossybox says: "Whether you're off on a city break or catching the rays on a staycation, this water resistant formula will shield your skin from UVA and UVB rays, while helping to prolong that sun-kissed glow. Vitamins C & E leave your skin super soft and the scent will transport you to sunnier climes!"
What I think?: Unfortunately this months weather wasn't too great and I didn't really have the chance to put this to the test and see how it actually works, I do however really like the smell, it does make me feel like I'm on vacation whenever I smell it (which is often).
Would I purchase this?: I really like the smell of this sun cream and that it feels more like a moisturiser than sun cream therefore I feel like I would want to buy it again as normally I am not a big fan of sun cream scent and the fact that I need to put moisturiser before hand in order for my skin to feel soft.
ABSOLUTE NEW YORK Velvet Lippie (full-size) | full-size price £4.93
Glossybox says: "This pretty lippie glides over lips, delivering a slick of highly pigmented colour, which then sets into a plush, matte finish. We've selected some of our favourite on-trend hues for the season."
What I think?: If I'm going to be totally honest I knew I'm going to hate it as soon as I saw it in the box, I really don't like the colour of mine, it doesn't go with my skin colour at all and is not really me if you know what I mean. I did give it a chance however and applied it on my lips to test it however even the finish of it is a bit weird and doesn't feel nice on my lips. I am really disappointed with this lipstick as I do normally like velvety/matte lipsticks but this just didn't work for me unfortunately.
Would I purchase this?: I would possibly try out a different shade to see if it works better on my lips, however would not have big hopes for it. Definitely wouldn't purchase this colour again.
BEE GOOD YOUTH Enhancing Plump & Film Moisturizer | full-size price £23.50
Glossybox says: "This nourishing moisturiser works to plump, smooth and soften your complexion, leaving it dewy and glowing with luminosity. Gently massage a pea-sized amount in to your face every morning and evening after cleansing."
What I think?: I think my expectations for this product were a little bit to high as I was really excited to try this out however apart from making my face feel tighter for a little while it didn't really do anything else, I don't feel like it moisturised by face as I found myself desperate to apply a different cream on top as soon as this dried. I don't feel like it left my face glowing either. I seen a lot of good reviews about this product so I feel like I should carry on testing and see if it works better after I use it constantly over a longer period of time.
Would I purchase this?: At this moment I wouldn't repurchase this however if I see results after carrying on using it I might consider it.
REVLON Ultimate All-in-One Mascara (full-size) | full-size price £9.99
Glossybox says: "This month, we gave Glossies the chance to choose one of Revlon's five amazing new mascaras to ass to their lash wardrobe. Each on is designed for a different look, from volume-boosting to lash-lenghtening. If you're new to Glossybox, or missed the chance to make your choice, we've chosen one for you - your lashes can thank us later!"
What I think?: I really really regret picking the ultimate all-in-one mascara, the wand is way too small and the formula is way too clumpy. I don't think they are all bad because I seen reviews and demo's of the other ones and they do seem really good, I just don't think I choose the right one for me.
Would I purchase this?: I definitely want to try other mascaras in the collection, however I wouldn't recommend the ultimate all-in-one mascara to anyone that wants nice long separated lashes without having to spend ages trying to achieve that look.
CETAPHIL Gentle Cleanser | full-size price £8.99
Glossybox says: "There's a very good reason this gentle, soap-free cleanser has a whole host of advocates from top dermatologists to celebs such as Alexa Chung and Olivia Wilde. It's suitable for any skin type (even the most sensitive) and soothes and nourishes skin as it removes every ounce of makeup. Massage into your skin and rinse or remove with tissue."
What I think?: I wanted to try this out for ages but could never actually bring myself to spend £10 on an ordinary face cleanser so I'm happy I got to try it out with this little sample. This is probably the first cleanser that I have ever tried that didn't irritate or dried out my skin so I am really impressed with it and plan on carrying on using it along with the face cream.
Would I purchase this?: I will definitely purchase this!
