BAKING POWDER - NOT JUST FOR BAKING
11:32 PMHello!
Today I have something unusual for you, I'm going to be talking about how baking powder can be used in your skincare routine and all the benefits it has for your skin. Usually when you hear baking powder you think about it as a cake ingredient but I promise you at the end of this post you will look at it differently and instead of keeping it in your kitchen cupboard you will move it to your bathroom!
I have discovered how good baking powder is when my friend was dealing with acne on her face and been recommended to try out baking powder on the spots to help her skin clear out we were both skeptical at first but look at those results:
This image shows how washing the face with baking powder over the period of 7 days cleared out my friends skin. On day 8 the spots were almost invisible.
How to wash your face with baking powder:
You mix one part of baking powder with one part of water in a little dish (it will form a paste like substance) and apply it to your wet face, leave it for a minute or two after which rinse with cold water. Repeat once a day until the spots clear out.
Baking Powder dries out your skin so be careful if you have a very dry face and moisturise afterwards.
Why is baking powder good at helping clear out your skin?
Baking powder dries out spots and exfoliates your skin while getting rid of excess oil from your face that clogs your pores and causes spots and blackheads to come out.
Baking powder face mask
Mix 2 tablespoons of baking powder with two tablespoons of water (you can add more if necessary but make sure you use even amount of both baking powder and water) and add a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice.
Wash and dry your face and apply the mask afterwards. Allow the mask to sit on your face for 10-15 minutes after which wash it with cold water.
Your face might be red for a while afterwards but this won't last long. Make sure to moisturise your face after you wash off the mask.
Baking powder as a lip exfoliator
In order to exfoliate your lips using baking powder, just apply a thin layer of baking powder over wet lips and let it sit on your lips for about 10 minutes after which wash it off. Your lips will be left exfoliated and looking plumper.
Baking powder as a teeth polisher and whitener
You can polish and whiten your teeth using baking powder however make sure you don't do it too often as it can be quite harsh on your teeth if overdone. Apply some baking powder on your wet toothbrush and brush your teeth as you would normally and rinse your mouth afterwards, alternatively you can mix baking powder with your toothpaste.
Baking powder as a hair cleanser
Baking powder can also be used to clarify your hair, just add baking powder to your shampoo and wash your hair as normal. This will make your hair shinier and more manageable.
Baking powder as a dry shampoo
If you are in a rush to leave the house and you don't have time to wash your hair and your dry shampoo is empty you can use baking powder to freshen up your hair. Simply dust some baking powder over your roots work it into your hair, brush it out and you are ready to go!
There are loads of uses for baking powder these are however my favourites. It's amazing how much use you can get out of £1 baking powder!
